Mantra’s Nigerian Security Services Go From Strength To Strength

Welcome to our second Quarterly Newsletter of 2023!

Once again, this quarter has been extremely busy for Mantra starting with our successful participation at the Securex West Africa Expo in May. The Expo proved to be a perfect opportunity for both current and potential future clients to visit our stand and learn first-hand about our full range of security services in Nigeria. Our stand was extremely busy over all three days and resulted in many excellent enquires for our company.

During the Securex Expo, we at Mantra were also delighted to be named as a Finalist in two categories by the Nigeria Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs). This high honour further demonstrates our excellent reputation as a Security Expert for Nigeria. These prestigious awards recognise and reward companies, people and innovation across the Nigerian security industry, so we were very proud to be short-listed in two extremely competitive categories: Outstanding Risk Management Solution and Outstanding Contract Security Guarding Company.

ASIS Leadership Retreat highlights the importance of collaboration in the security industry

Mantra’s Senior Management Team recently attended the ASIS Chapter 206 Leadership Retreat, held in Ibadan, Nigeria. The theme of the retreat was “Secured Handshake”, reiterating the importance of both the public and private sectors working together to address the complex security challenges in Nigeria.

The retreat provided our team with an excellent opportunity to focus on pertinent security issues in Nigeria, such as cybersecurity, risk management and emergency crisis response, as well as learning about emerging security trends and new technological advancements in the security industry. This was achieved through a variety of keynote presentations from security industry experts, interactive workshops to encourage knowledge sharing, and by using case studies and practical exercises to tackle real-world emergency scenarios.

Our own Managing Director, Mr Aniekan Willie, participated as a Panelist in the thought-provoking discussion: ‘Does the judiciary have any role to play in the security sphere?’, highlighting the crucial role of the judiciary in maintaining order and stability in Nigerian society.

The ASIS Leadership Retreat proved to be a huge success! Our Senior Management Team agreed that the retreat was an invaluable platform for all security professionals in Nigeria to gain new industry insights and enhance their leadership skills. The retreat also provided them with the tools and knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of security in Nigeria. This will of course be of huge benefit to our Clients, especially those who wish to use our Security Consultancy Services.

Mid-Year Security Advisory Welcomed by our Clients

Now that Nigeria’s general election is over and the new president has been sworn in, it is clear that Nigeria continues to deal with various security challenges across all regions. As a result of this continued uncertainty and as part of our Security Threats and Information Services, we created a Mid-Year Security Advisory for all of our Clients. The Advisory provided them with a full breakdown of security incidents in Nigeria from January to June 2023, and also an analysis of the current security environment in Nigeria.

Amongst other issues, the removal of the fuel subsidy will undoubtedly have far-reaching implications for the economic and security situation in Nigeria, with the potential for social unrest due to increased fuel prices. While the government is proactively engaging with Labour Unions and Civil Society Groups to mitigate any negative consequences, we will continue to monitor the situation to see how things develop.
